The position involves designing and delivering next-generation chassis and cards that meet system product requirements. The role requires performing detailed 2D tolerance analysis for complex electro-mechanical assemblies using spreadsheets and/or 3D tolerance analysis tools such as CETol. The candidate will be responsible for developing innovative mechanical solutions using materials such as sheet metal, plastic, and die-cast that comply with EMI, safety, and other regulatory requirements. Additionally, the role includes developing 3D CAD models using Creo or NX and creating detailed drawings by applying Geometric Tolerancing and Dimensioning (GD&T) principles. The successful candidate will lead the resolution of design issues by collaborating closely with manufacturing teams and suppliers, developing mitigation plans, and keeping management informed of progress. This position also requires collaboration with cross-functional teams, including hardware, software integration, CAD, thermal, and manufacturing, to negotiate requirements and evaluate technical risks and trade-offs. The candidate will work alongside thermal engineers to design and implement effective cooling solutions and provide technical design guidance and mentoring for junior engineers. Overall, this role is critical in ensuring that the mechanical designs meet the necessary specifications and performance standards while fostering a collaborative environment among various engineering disciplines.
