About the position

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will play a pivotal role in the design and delivery of next-generation chassis and cards that meet system product requirements. This position requires a deep understanding of mechanical engineering principles, particularly in the context of computer networking, servers, data centers, and storage solutions. The engineer will be responsible for performing detailed 2D tolerance analysis for complex electro-mechanical assemblies, utilizing both spreadsheets and advanced 3D tolerance analysis tools such as CETol. In addition to tolerance analysis, the engineer will design and develop innovative mechanical solutions using materials such as sheet metal, plastic, and die-cast, ensuring compliance with EMI, safety, and other regulatory requirements. The role involves creating 3D CAD models using industry-standard software like Creo or NX, and producing detailed drawings that apply Geometric Tolerancing and Dimensioning (GD&T) principles. Collaboration is key in this role, as the engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware, software integration, CAD, thermal, and manufacturing teams, to negotiate requirements and evaluate technical risks and trade-offs. The engineer will also lead the resolution of design issues by coordinating with manufacturing teams and suppliers, developing mitigation plans, and keeping management informed of progress. Furthermore, the engineer will provide technical design guidance and mentoring to junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
