About the position

The Sr. Mechanical Engineer will be a key member of the Battery Pack Engineering Team at Lucid Motors, responsible for leading the design and optimization of mechanical systems for luxury electric vehicles. This role emphasizes innovative problem-solving and collaboration in a fast-paced environment, focusing on creating high-quality, efficient designs that integrate seamlessly with electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Take responsibility for system level designs, from concept through production launch and ramp.
• Optimize mechanical designs for size, weight, durability, and cost.
• Create 3D designs and GD&T drawings of complex parts and assemblies.
• Integrate mechanical designs with high voltage electrical systems in a multidisciplinary environment.
• Demonstrate technical excellence and apply first-principle engineering to new applications.
• Design and own basic testing to verify system functions.
• Engage in strong interactions with suppliers for DFM.

Requirements

• Previous ownership of complex parts that have shipped in volume.
• 3+ years of professional structural design release experience.
• Strong materials knowledge with a good understanding of various material/grades and their tradeoffs, as well as coatings.
• Strong CAD experience, proficient with CATIA or similar software.
• Demonstrate previous cross-functional collaboration to solve problems.
• A desire to work hard and push boundaries.
• Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals.
• Well-developed team working and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Background in HV battery structures design.
• Experience in designing to meet ingress protection requirements.
