About the position

Anduril Industries is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance mission team. This role is pivotal in designing new product lines, specifically focusing on infrared Wide Area Motion Imagery (WAMI) and Ladar systems. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary technical team to define mechanical architectures, complete mechanical design and analysis, build prototypes, and lead the transition of these prototypes into production-ready products. The successful candidate will have a strong background in designing and delivering environmentally rugged, precision pointing opto-mechanical systems, ensuring that the products meet the rigorous demands of military applications. In this position, you will own the hardware from concept generation to real-world use, applying first principles physics as the foundation for your decisions. You will lead system integration activities into tactical platforms, including ships and aircraft, and will be responsible for building prototypes, analyzing failures, and transitioning successful projects into production. Additionally, you will support critical hardware demonstrations with customers and act as the mechanical program lead on new optical system development efforts. Your role will also involve defining top-level system architecture trades to develop optimal system designs and executing in-depth and rigorous opto-mechanical designs. Travel to test sites may be required as part of the job responsibilities.
