About the position

CMTA, a Legence company, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Energy Solutions division in Brentwood, TN. This division is recognized as the fastest growing segment of our company, and we are looking for an experienced engineer who is self-motivated and thrives on helping clients. The successful candidate will have a strong technical background and will be involved in leading all phases of our work, particularly in performance contracting. This role is ideal for engineers with a solid foundation in HVAC design and commissioning, as they can transition smoothly into the energy engineering field within our team. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will lead all aspects of performance contracts for our clients, from conception to completion. You will serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout all phases of the project. Your responsibilities will include introducing and explaining performance contracting to potential clients, articulating CMTA's unique approach, and leading the development phase which encompasses site visits, audits, and energy calculations. You will direct the engineering design team in producing drawings and specifications, oversee the bidding process, and develop the final contract with the client. Additionally, you will work closely with the construction manager to ensure a smooth construction period and direct the commissioning process, remaining involved during the warranty phase as necessary. You will also collaborate with our Measurement and Verification (M&V) professional to develop the first-year M&V report, ensuring that all aspects of the project meet our high standards of performance and client satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Introduce and explain performance contracting to potential clients.
  • Articulate how and why CMTA is unique in our approach to performance contracting.
  • Lead the development phase including site visits, audits, energy calculations, etc.
  • Direct the engineering design team producing drawings and specifications.
  • Direct the bidding process.
  • Develop the final contract with the client.
  • Work with construction manager to ensure smooth construction period for the client.
  • Direct the commissioning process.
  • Be involved during warranty phase as required.
  • Work with our M&V professional to develop the first year M&V report.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience with an Energy Services company OR a consulting engineering/commissioning firm.
  • Minimum of bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or similar discipline.
