About the position

In this role, you will have the opportunity to participate in engineering and design of the HVAC and plumbing systems in various types of facilities. The HVAC Team is engaged in a variety of design and construction activities, utilizing both traditional and alternative project delivery methods. You will work on diverse facility types including Power Generation buildings, Substations, Oil & Gas structures, and Energy Storage buildings, focusing on HVAC and plumbing systems. Your work will involve various areas such as Power Generation Halls, Administrative spaces, Warehouses, Maintenance workshops, Laboratories, and Chemical Storage facilities, among others. You will also engage in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) studies, energy audits, and efficiency engineering studies, as well as code compliance reviews and sustainable design strategies, including LEED applications. The Mechanical Buildings Design Group provides HVAC and plumbing solutions for Black & Veatch's three market sectors: Governments & Environment, Energy & Process Industries, and Connectivity & Commercial. In this role, you will be engaged with exciting projects across the globe, from small community improvements to grand-scale Mega Projects. Responsibilities

  • Participate in the engineering and design of HVAC and plumbing systems for various facilities.
  • Engage in design and construction activities for power generation buildings, substations, and oil & gas structures.
  • Conduct energy audits and efficiency engineering studies.
  • Perform code compliance reviews and sustainable design strategies.
  • Utilize Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) for system analysis.
  • Collaborate with team members on project delivery methods and facility types.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in HVAC and plumbing design.
  • Proficiency in HVAC system design and energy efficiency practices.
  • Experience with LEED certification processes and sustainable design principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Experience with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software.
  • Familiarity with building codes and regulations.
  • Project management experience.
