About the position

BAE Systems is seeking a proactive Sr. Mechanical Engineer to design, develop, and integrate complex military systems within the Countermeasure & Electromagnetic Attack Solutions team. This role involves working collaboratively in a hybrid format, focusing on creating robust hardware solutions that meet demanding customer requirements while leveraging mechanical engineering expertise throughout the product life cycle.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and integrate/test dynamic complex military systems.
• Generate 3D solid models, drawings, and documentation utilizing GD&T principles.
• Perform tolerance analyses to assure fit & function.
• Conduct thermal, structural/stress, and vibration analyses.
• Assess designs against environmental requirements and generate prototypes for testing.
• Collaborate with other engineering disciplines and operations personnel to develop solutions adhering to UPC, DFT, and DFM requirements.
• Support resolution of technical issues during manufacture and test of deliverable hardware.
• Evaluate and troubleshoot mechanical faults and issues, assessing test failures for root cause and corrective actions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and 4+ years' experience.
• Demonstrated experience in product development and support of DoD military electronics equipment.
• Solid fundamentals of mechanical design, analysis, and documentation principles.
• Experience with state-of-the-art mechanical engineering development software tools.
• Strong computer skills in basic MS Office and technical programs.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge/experience with manufacturing, production, and sustainment of mechanical systems and hardware.
• Experience in the design/development of complex mechanical systems and hardware.
• Experience in the design and manufacture of electronic circuit card assemblies.
• Familiarity with ANSYS Workbench/Mechanical, PTC Creo, MATLAB/Simulink, Siemens NX, ANSYS Icepak.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
