About the position

McMillen, Inc. is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer specializing in hydropower to join our team in Wedgwood, Washington. This full-time position requires a minimum of 12 years of experience in the design, operation, and maintenance of power generation facilities, with a strong preference for candidates who have significant experience in hydropower design. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring quality assurance during the execution of hydro-related projects, which includes on-site coordination, communication, and observation of construction and commissioning activities. The role also involves daily reporting, quantity and cost tracking, and progress assessments, while interacting with multidisciplinary team members to ensure project success. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of turbomachinery projects, including feasibility studies and concept development, as well as experience with hydraulic turbines, large pumps, valves, and controls design, testing, and commissioning. Familiarity with greenfield and/or brownfield hydropower projects, pump stations, and systems such as penstocks, centrifugal and mixed flow pumps, and various types of hydraulic turbines is essential. Additional knowledge of induction motors, synchronous and induction generators, automatic voltage regulation, and excitation equipment for synchronous generators will be beneficial. Experience with large gates, valves, fish facilities, and water conveyance projects is also a plus. This position is available in the western United States, including Hawaii and Alaska, and requires a PE License. A Master's degree is preferred. Candidates must demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills, the ability to thrive in a team environment, and strong self-motivation. The compensation package includes a competitive salary range of $106,000 - $150,000 annually, depending on experience, along with a comprehensive benefits program.
