About the position
The Senior Mechanical Engineer at McMillen, Inc. will play a crucial role in the design, operation, and maintenance of hydropower generation facilities. This position requires extensive experience in hydropower design, particularly in turbomachinery projects, and involves overseeing project execution, ensuring quality assurance, and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams. The ideal candidate will contribute to various stages of project development, from feasibility studies to commissioning, while also preparing detailed design documentation and cost estimates.
Responsibilities
- Provide oversight and quality assurance support during the execution of hydro-related projects.
- On-site coordination, communication, and observation of construction and commissioning activities.
- Daily reporting, quantity and cost tracking, and progress assessments.
- Interact with multidisciplinary team members.
Requirements
- Minimum of 12+ years of experience in design, operation, and maintenance of power generation facilities.
- PE License is required.
- Master's degree is preferred.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a team environment and effectively lead project teams.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with greenfield and/or brownfield hydropower or pump stations.
- Familiarity with penstocks, centrifugal and mixed flow pumps, and hydraulic turbines.
- Understanding of induction motors, synchronous and induction generators, and automatic voltage regulation.
- Experience with large gates, valves, fish facilities, and water conveyance projects.
