About the position

The Senior Mechanical Engineer at Clayco will collaborate with in-house Development, Architecture, and Construction teams to deliver Mechanical HVAC Design and Quality Assurance for various projects across the nation. This role involves overseeing mechanical HVAC engineering design and analysis, leading junior engineers, and ensuring compliance with building codes and standards throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical HVAC engineering design and analysis for various projects.
• Oversee entry-level Mechanical Engineers and/or Mechanical Designers.
• Conduct conceptual and schematic design, feasibility studies, and full construction documentation.
• Perform accurate load calculations and ensure compliance with building mechanical codes.
• Coordinate with equipment vendors, Procurement, and Preconstruction groups throughout the design process.
• Review shop drawings and submittals to ensure compliance with scope of work.
• Conduct site and quality visits to assist in solving field issues.
• Build relationships with field staff, including Superintendents and other on-site personnel.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with Mechanical emphasis.
• PE License required to seal engineering documents, with the ability to attain licenses in multiple states.
• Minimum of 5 years of related HVAC design experience.
• Knowledge of HVAC Systems Applications and Implementation.
• Team-oriented attitude is essential.
• Resilient and adaptable to design changes.

Nice-to-haves

• 3-D CAD experience (AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks) is a plus.
• Knowledge of sustainable design practices, energy-efficient design practices, and decarbonization measures is a plus.
