About the position

Kiewit Industrial & Water Engineering (KIWE) is seeking a Senior-Level Mechanical Engineer to contribute to project success by establishing, maintaining, and improving company standards and tools. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in mechanical or process engineering, particularly in biogas, bulk solids material handling, and food and beverage industries. This role involves design oversight, project management, and collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure effective project delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Provide design, coordination, and oversight of various mechanical systems typical for biogas, bulk solids material handling, food and beverage, and other industrial facilities.
  • Manage the completion of all project design calculations and equipment specifications.
  • Coordinate and communicate all aspects of the project's mechanical design within multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Provide oversight and coordination of projects to meet project budgets and schedules for all mechanical discipline activities.
  • Manage other design partners including construction partners, equipment suppliers, and other engineers and designers assigned to the project.
  • Perform detailed technical bid analyses for equipment typical for biogas, bulk solids material handling, food and beverage, and other industrial facilities.
  • Generate and check design deliverables such as PFD's, P&ID's, process simulations, datasheets, and vendor shop drawings.
  • Support the construction team including representing the design team on-site and answering RFI's.
  • Develop schedules, work assignments, and staffing requirements to ensure successful project completion.
  • Perform early project design work such as conceptual studies and preliminary equipment sizing and selection.
  • Train, mentor, and advise peers and support staff on proper application of industry standards and best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent from an ABET accredited university.
  • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification required; Professional Engineer (P.E.) preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of industry-related engineering experience.
  • Experience leading an engineering and design team is preferred.
  • Proficient in basic computing programs including Microsoft Office suite.
  • Preferred experience utilizing AFT Fathom or AFT Arrow hydraulic simulation software.
