About the position

The Senior Mechanical Engineer (Pharmaceutical) position at NV5 involves a critical role in the development, design, and management of mechanical systems for complex projects within the pharmaceutical and laboratory facility design sector. This role requires a strong background in clean room design, as well as experience in the design of Cell & Gene and Biotherapy facilities, which is considered a plus. The engineer will be responsible for ensuring that all mechanical designs meet the necessary standards and specifications, while also adhering to current industry trends, technologies, building codes, and cGMP standards. In this position, the engineer will report weekly to project managers regarding the status of projects, including budget and schedule updates. The role also involves generating and reviewing essential documentation such as calculations, equipment specifications, controls drawings, and construction drawings. The engineer will be expected to maintain a high level of communication with clients, subcontractors, and co-workers, ensuring that all parties are aligned and informed throughout the project lifecycle. Additionally, the role requires the ability to multitask across different project assignments, demonstrating self-discipline and effective prioritization skills. The engineer will also be involved in developing proposals and client presentations, showcasing their expertise and the capabilities of NV5. Travel to project sites is expected to be approximately 15-20% of the time, allowing for hands-on involvement in the projects being managed.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, design, and manage all mechanical design of complex projects in the pharmaceutical and laboratory facility design field.
  • Utilize strong clean room design experience in project execution.
  • Report weekly to individual project managers on project status, budget, and schedule.
  • Generate and review calculations, equipment specifications, controls drawings, and construction drawings.
  • Maintain familiarity with current industry standards, trends, technologies, building codes, and cGMP standards.
  • Develop proposals and client presentations.
  • Travel to project sites approximately 15-20% of the time.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering and PE License.
  • 10 to 15 years' experience in mechanical engineering, particularly in pharmaceutical and laboratory facility design.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, subcontractors, and co-workers.
  • Strong prioritization skills and self-discipline.
  • Ability to multitask between different project assignments.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Computer literacy in MS Office, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM 360.
