About the position
Nightwing is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join their team in Springfield, Virginia. This role involves working collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team to develop engineering solutions from conceptualization through to prototype development and production. The engineer will be responsible for product design, engineering analysis, and documentation, while also supporting the Program Manager in managing technical, cost, and schedule requirements.
Responsibilities
- Develop engineering solutions from conceptualization through prototype development and testing.
- Create production drawings and vendor fabrication of prototype hardware.
- Prepare presentations, field reports, cost estimates, and design reviews.
- Support the Program Manager in handling technical, cost, and schedule requirements of current tasks.
- Contribute to the strategy and vision for future tasks based on customer needs.
Requirements
- Active TS/SCI security clearance.
- Minimum five years of relevant experience in a Mechanical Engineering role or related field with a University Degree, or three years with an Advanced Degree.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary, collaborative team environment.
- Proficient with material mechanics and engineering dynamics.
- Experience with test planning, reports, and/or procedure documentation.
- Experience with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Creo.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including MS Excel and PowerPoint.
