About the position

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will play a crucial role in the design of industrial HVAC and utility systems, primarily for the pharmaceutical and chemical industries. This position requires a technically focused engineer who will lead design efforts and contribute to project execution in a full-time capacity at the Newark, DE office, with some flexibility for hybrid work arrangements.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design of mechanical utility & HVAC systems, including sizing and selection of building mechanical equipment.
  • Perform a variety of engineering calculations such as HVAC load & ventilation air calculations, psychometrics, pipe flow/pressure drop, and ductwork sizing.
  • Utilize building load calculation software like Trane Trace.
  • Develop building energy models when necessary.
  • Apply knowledge of relevant MEP industry codes & standards such as ASHRAE, ICC Codes, NFPA, and SMACNA.
  • Develop and write equipment & project specifications.
  • Interact with internal team members and external stakeholders including clients, vendors, and contractors.
  • Provide subject matter expertise (SME) and technical guidance to other Engineers and Designers in the MEP group.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 8+ years of professional experience.
  • Proficiency with engineering tools like AutoCAD; Microstation and Revit are a plus.
  • In-depth knowledge of HVAC systems, air handlers, chillers, pumps, fans, cooling towers, compressors, dryers, boilers, load calculations, flow, ductwork, and BIM.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly preferred.
