About the position

The Senior Mechanical Project Engineer will be responsible for planning and conducting engineering work that requires independent judgment and substantial adaptation of standard techniques. This role involves successfully completing small to medium engineering projects, collaborating closely with Project Managers and Senior Engineers, and ensuring that client goals and objectives are met. The position is based in Minneapolis, MN, and is part of the Property & Buildings Team.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare basic deliverables and products including calculations, drawings, and specifications.
  • Set deadlines and assign responsibilities for project tasks.
  • Examine field conditions to support project development and completion.
  • Design mechanical systems, including calculations of heating and cooling loads, adhering to QA/QC processes.
  • Select and layout mechanical equipment such as pumps, chillers, fans, and boilers.
  • Develop project specifications and documentation.
  • Attend meetings with architects, owners, and building managers to discuss projects.
  • Ensure client project goals and objectives are met.
  • Assist in business development and participate in client presentations.
  • Train and mentor junior team members.
  • Enhance the firm's reputation by fulfilling client requests and demonstrating core values.
  • Update job knowledge and technical expertise through educational opportunities and professional development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline.
  • 5 to 7 years of relevant post-education experience in engineering and mechanical design.
  • Engineer in Training Certification.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of code compliance requirements and industry standards.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, decision-making, and analytical skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong influencing and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Experience with Horizon or Project Resource Management software is preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in Engineering.
  • Essential Professional Licensure/Certification.
  • Experience managing small to mid-size projects.
  • 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) preferred.
  • Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training desired.
