About the position

The Senior Medical Secretary plays a crucial role in supporting physicians with patient care and administrative tasks, ensuring efficient patient flow and a positive representation of the physician's practice. This position involves managing front-end revenue cycle processes, scheduling appointments, and assisting with various administrative duties related to patient care and physician support.

Responsibilities

  • Assist physicians with patient care and administrative tasks.
  • Manage front-end revenue cycle processes, including patient check-in/check-out and payment collection.
  • Ensure patients provide necessary pre-visit documentation and authorizations.
  • Schedule, confirm, re-schedule, and cancel appointments for patients.
  • Coordinate follow-up care, including scheduling laboratory tests and prescription requests.
  • Maintain physicians' administrative and clinical schedules.
  • Prepare charges and payments for billing submission.
  • Identify delinquent accounts and review with physicians for next steps.
  • Assist with physicians' research activities and prepare presentations.
  • Make travel arrangements for business purposes and prepare related documents.
  • Update physicians' CV and credentialing documentation.
  • Initiate and prepare written correspondence as needed.
  • Perform chaperone duties during patient exams as required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Approximately 2 or more years of prior related experience
  • Experience using computerized appointment scheduling systems (EPIC preferred)
  • Knowledge of CPT, ICD-9, and ICD-10 coding
  • Working knowledge of third party payor reimbursement (Medicare, Medicaid, Managed Care, and commercial insurance)
