About the position

The Senior Medical Technologist will perform specialized technical analyses on clinical specimens in a high complexity molecular lab. This role involves operating sequencing equipment, ensuring the quality of laboratory instrumentation and reagents, and maintaining compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The position is a full-time, temp-to-hire opportunity based in Miami Lakes, FL, reporting directly to the Laboratory Supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Conduct general laboratory high complexity testing, analyzing samples and interpreting results.
• Perform tests across various specialties and subspecialties, ensuring accuracy and precision.
• Assist in quality control management to maintain accurate and reliable test results.
• Troubleshoot issues related to specimen processing or testing procedures.
• Regularly monitor and validate equipment performance and reagents.
• Perform Proficiency Testing and retain test records to show proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient samples.
• Assist in laboratory inventory management, ensuring an adequate supply of reagents, consumables, and equipment.
• Handle patient specimens carefully, following proper protocols to prevent contamination or errors.
• Document all orders received by physicians and ensure specimens are fully labeled and collected properly.
• Maintain confidentiality of all patient information throughout all phases of laboratory testing.
• Adhere to safety guidelines and maintain compliance with regulatory standards.
• Ensure proper disposal of hazardous materials.
• Maintain accurate records of test results, quality control data, and other relevant information.

Requirements

• NGS experience is essential.
• State of Florida technologist license is required.
