About the position

The Senior Mental Health and Wellness Clinician will be part of a modified psychiatric emergency team, providing behavioral health evaluations and coordinating discharges for psychiatric and chemical dependency referrals. This role involves working closely with physicians and healthcare teams to ensure proper care and placement of individuals in crisis situations. The clinician will also be responsible for on-call coverage and must demonstrate competency in evaluating individuals for 5150 holds as designated by the Orange County Health Care Agency.

Responsibilities

• Provide behavioral health evaluations for patients in crisis.
• Coordinate discharge plans for psychiatric and chemical dependency referrals.
• Work collaboratively with physicians and healthcare teams for patient care.
• Evaluate and place individuals on 5150 holds as required.
• Participate in on-call coverage for the psychiatric emergency team.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field; or Ph.D. in Psychology; or Associate's Degree in Nursing; or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
• LPS Designation (Orange County) at hire or within 90 days of hire date.
• California Clinical Social Worker License, Professional Counselor License, Marriage and Family Therapist License, or Psychologist License upon hire.
• Provider BLS certification from the American Heart Association upon hire.
• Crisis Prevention certification within 90 days of hire.
• 1 year of experience providing crisis intervention and/or patient intake evaluation services.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in an acute care or free-standing facility.
• Additional certifications in mental health or crisis intervention.
