About the position

The Senior Microelectronics Design Engineer at Leidos will work within a multi-disciplined design team to design, develop, simulate, and integrate custom microelectronics for warfighter missions. The role emphasizes a strong background in Digital Signal Processing (DSP) algorithms and their implementation in MATLAB and FPGAs, supporting a fast-paced environment. The engineer will also be involved in integration, testing, and verification of final products, contributing to the advancement of the U.S. Defense Industrial Base's access to state-of-the-art microelectronics.

Responsibilities

  • Support technical and programmatic assessments of technologies and capabilities in microelectronics.
  • Lead or support marketing and business development initiatives, developing technical solutions for capture efforts.
  • Lead a microelectronics design team to design, integrate, and test DSP FPGA designs for EW sensor systems.
  • Interface and collaborate with engineers, scientists, policy makers, and executives across various sectors.
  • Provide technical support and field support planning as needed.
  • Conduct experimental tests on SoC evaluation boards and develop specifications for next-generation components.
  • Interact with customers, suppliers, and functional peer groups.
  • Communicate results through briefings and written materials to the team, customers, and management.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship with a Secret-level clearance and ability to obtain a TS clearance.
  • BS degree with 12 years of experience; Master's degree in a related field with 6+ years preferred.
  • Experience with DSP fundamentals and FPGA implementation.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Familiarity with microchip EDA tools and flows (e.g., Synopsys, Cadence).
  • Expertise in microelectronics hardware in at least one area and experience in one additional area, such as supply chain, wafer-level design, chip-scale design, or hardware programming.

Nice-to-haves

  • 8+ years of experience in leading a design team.
  • Experience in hardware test and measurement and hands-on lab debugging.
  • Familiarity with interfaces such as ADC/DACs, SerDes, PCIe, JTAG, DDRx.
