About the position

The Senior Mobile Developer - Android at Cook Children's Health Care System is a key IT professional responsible for creating and designing mobile applications, enhancing existing features, and collaborating with various teams to develop innovative solutions that cater to the needs of patients, staff, and care providers. This role requires expertise in Android development, system integration, and adherence to security standards, particularly concerning PHI and HIPAA. The developer will also guide and mentor other developers while ensuring high-quality application performance and compliance with development standards.

Responsibilities

  • Create and design new mobile applications for Android.
  • Maintain and improve existing features on current applications.
  • Collaborate with marketing, IT, and operational teams to develop innovative solutions.
  • Determine functional and non-functional requirements for new and existing systems/applications.
  • Serve as a technical expert on Android development, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Create high-level specifications and address systems integration and compatibility issues.
  • Perform research on design feasibility and present findings to management.
  • Develop high-level product specifications with attention to system integration and feasibility.
  • Oversee the progress of development to ensure design consistency and quality.
  • Provide technical guidance and coaching to other developers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related technical field (or 3 additional years of technical experience if the degree is in a non-technical subject).
  • 4 years of mobile development experience.
  • 3+ years of experience developing applications on the Android Platform.
  • 3+ years of experience using Android Studio and Kotlin.
  • Experience with Java, mobile testing, and Firebase or similar debugging tools is a plus.
  • 1+ years of experience using BDD tools (e.g., Cucumber) or TDD is preferred.
  • Experience with databases and android.database is a plus.
  • 1+ years of experience working in a Health Care or Health IT environment preferred.
  • 8 years of overall development experience is preferred.
  • Experience with continuous integration and continuous deployment is preferred.
  • Experience with Apple iOS platform development is preferred.
  • Experience with Apple iOS app store is preferred.

  • Mobile development certification is a plus.
  • Agile/Scrum certification is a plus.
  • Android certification is a plus.
  • Apple iOS certification is a plus.
