PayIt solutions cover services including hunting and fishing licensing, DMV, courts, property tax, utilities, tolling, and more. We are looking for a talented and experienced Mobile App Designer to join the Product Experience Design team. As a Mobile App Designer, you will be responsible for designing intuitive, user-centered mobile applications that deliver an exceptional user experience. You'll be joining a team of world-class designers to provide innovative new experiences that have impact and visibility throughout PayIt. Our mission to provide modern technology solutions to all residents includes a focus on providing equitable and accessible government services. Our software is designed around people and we put the end-users at the center of all that we do.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Engineers, Client teams and others to create simple and engaging user experiences that are 'Easier for everyone'.
  • Represent Product Design for the organization, sharing enthusiasm and user-centered design insight with the organization.
  • Contribute to research, user interviews, designing, prototyping, and usability testing to understand issues impacting end users.
  • Assess Information Architecture and create simple and engaging Interaction Designs.
  • Create wireframes, user flows, and other deliverables to communicate the user experience of a given feature.
  • Develop high-fidelity visual designs for mobile applications with detailed annotations on interaction designs, accessibility, and responsive behavior for Engineers and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with other designers and engineers on your scrum team to provide solutions and own the design of new features.
  • Work closely with engineers to balance technical limitations with the needs of users.
  • Work within PayIt's existing design system and brand guidelines.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5+ years experience working in Product Design, as a mobile app UX/UI Designer or within a similar field.
  • Minimum of a bachelor's in a Design curriculum or gained relevant work experience in the Design field.
  • A strong portfolio showcasing previous mobile app design work, including case studies and detailed explanations of design processes.
  • Advanced proficiency in Figma and FigJam, coupled with a comprehensive understanding of G Suite and Jira.
  • Possesses a deep understanding of mobile design principles, guidelines, and industry best practices.
  • Familiarity with platform-specific design guidelines (Apple's Human Interface Guidelines, Google's Material Design).
  • Experience designing solutions within a React Native mobile app framework.
  • Ability to solve complex problems with User-Centered Design principles and methodologies.
  • A collaborative approach to solving problems that includes leading design reviews with Product and Engineering teams.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate and defend design decisions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with designing for Accessibility using WCAG guidelines.
  • Experience designing within a SaaS environment.
  • Experience conducting a thorough evaluation of a current mobile app, identifying areas for improvement, and recommending a comprehensive redesign based on the latest design principles, best practices, and user-centered design methodologies.
  • Outdoors hobbies, including hunting or fishing.
  • Experience with research or analytics tools such as Maze or Pendo.
