About the position

The Senior Molding Manufacturing Engineer at Medtronic will play a crucial role in the Danvers Molding Operations department, focusing on the design and implementation of molding manufacturing processes and continuous improvement initiatives. This position involves sourcing new molding methods for medical device profiles and ensuring compliance with regulations while enhancing product quality and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Design molding manufacturing processes, procedures, and production layouts for molding assemblies.
  • Design arrangement of machines within plant facilities for optimal efficiency.
  • Validate molding components used to manufacture sub-assemblies.
  • Design sequence of operations and specify procedures for tool fabrication and other functions affecting product performance.
  • Adapt machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions.
  • Incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan.
  • Inspect performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to ensure efficiency and initiate corrective actions as needed.
  • Develop manufacturing processes applicable to statistical process control and related techniques.
  • Provide guidance to engineering on design concepts and specification requirements.
  • Ensure processes, parts drawings, and procedures comply with regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering with a minimum of 4 years of molding process/project engineering experience, or an advanced degree in Engineering with a minimum of 2 years of molding process/project engineering experience.
  • Technical background in Plastics Machinery and/or processing.
  • Experience with catheter manufacturing, extrusion, and injection molding processes.
  • MS in Plastics Engineering.
  • Experience in a medical device setting.
  • 2-5 years' experience in an ISO13485/GMP environment.
  • Six Sigma, Constraint Management, and Lean Manufacturing experience.
  • Documented success in new product launch contributions and/or completed capital projects managed on time and on budget.
  • Proven success in Project Management.
  • Strong statistical skills and knowledge of statistical software (Minitab).
  • Technical writing skills and effective verbal, written, and presentation skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a medical device setting.
  • Team dynamic skills including communication, accountability, decision-making, feedback, meeting management, and managing conflict.
  • Experience with DOE, SPC, FMEA, GMP, QSR.
