About the position

The Senior Mortgage Clerk position is responsible for processing mortgage-related tasks, including issuing payments for appraisal and contractor services, managing loss mitigation servicing, and providing customer support. The role requires knowledge of relevant regulations and involves significant interaction with insurance companies and customers. The clerk will also support the mortgage origination and underwriting processes while maintaining confidentiality and discretion in all transactions.

Responsibilities

  • Issue appraisal and contractor payments on liquidation appraisal orders.
  • Process mortgage loss mitigation servicing.
  • Provide Guaranteed Loan Support services.
  • Support the Mortgage Origination/Underwriting Auditor.
  • Procure information from insurance companies via telephone.
  • Update insurance information in LoanServ.
  • Issue payments to insurance companies.
  • Work with and import correspondence in the Electronic Customer File.
  • Prepare and document global system notes in Sagent.
  • Research accounts and provide resolution.
  • Review and process Debt Settlement packets.
  • Send debt settlement applications.
  • Process charge-off and debt cancellations.
  • Process skip trace information.
  • Index signed Ream agreements.
  • Support the SFH-Guaranteed Loan Program.
  • Process loss claims according to SFG-GLP regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Perform account research and provide detailed analysis and advice to management and customers.
  • Provide lender/servicer customer service support via email and phone.
  • Process all loss claim-related sub-tasks.
  • Prepare UPS labels for overnight mailings, data entry, image documents, sort/scan mail, and answer phone calls and emails.
  • Initiate tasks in the imaging workflow from the centralized SO SFH-G lender email account.
  • Ensure all calls and emails from the centralized SO SFH-G lender email account and phone lines are responded to according to procedure and servicing standards.
  • Process Chapter 13 and Chapter 7 Bankruptcy cases.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work area and report any unsafe conditions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of three years' relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of the Debt Collection Improvement Act of 1996 transaction processing.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks effectively.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to quickly grasp business needs and issues.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Access, Word, Outlook).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in mortgage processing or related fields.
  • Familiarity with government regulations related to mortgage servicing.
