About the position

The Senior Mortgage Loan Officer position is a full-time, commissioned role based out of Frederick, MD, with responsibilities extending to Hagerstown, MD. This role is pivotal in assisting customers and prospective clients in identifying and securing mortgage loans that align with their financial circumstances and goals, particularly home ownership. The position requires the officer to act on internal leads while also cultivating external sources to generate mortgage loan origination. A significant portion of the role involves building and maintaining relationships with realtors, builders, accountants, lawyers, financial advisors, and other referral sources to obtain mortgage loan applications. In this role, the Senior Mortgage Loan Officer will develop and expand referral sources to solicit first mortgages, ensuring a continual stream of origination volume. Regular contact with realtors, builders, and developers is essential, as is participation in building and trade shows and mixers related to real estate. The officer will collect and analyze applicants' financial information to assess their qualifications for specific loans, interviewing them to gather necessary details about their income, assets, debts, and credit history. Based on this analysis, the officer will recommend financial products that best meet the customers' needs, advising them on the risks and benefits of various loan alternatives. The position also involves engaging in persuasive sales activities to encourage potential customers to choose the company for their mortgage needs, while cross-promoting other services and financial products. The officer will be responsible for managing the loans they originate, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and maintaining communication with customers throughout the loan process to ensure they understand each step.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (Required).
  • 4 or more years of current residential mortgage lending experience (Required).
  • 4 or more years of established referral sources outside of branch referrals (Required).
  • 4 or more years of proven ability to develop and maintain significant referral sources from contacts and relationships outside the organization (Required).
