About the position

News 12 is seeking a proactive and self-starting Multimedia Journalist who will be responsible for generating story ideas, developing sources, pursuing leads, and producing content across various platforms, including social media. The role emphasizes delivering high-quality news and storytelling with a focus on local communities.

Responsibilities

• Shoot, write and edit news stories clearly and creatively.
• Operate assigned camera and editing gear.
• Investigate community issues and produce relevant stories.
• Write web/digital copy for all stories.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Journalism or Communications preferred; Master's degree is a plus.
• 4 - 5 years of full-time professional news reporting experience.
• Ability to work independently in a multimedia environment.
• Proficiency in editing on non-linear systems such as Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premier.
• Knowledge of local and national current events and issues.
• Understanding of libel laws and ethical foundations of journalism.
• Excellent news writing ability for all platforms, including social media.
• Proficiency in current and emerging newsgathering and production technologies.
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
• Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver up to 40lbs.
• Flexibility to work any assigned shift, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
