About the position

James Martin Vanities is seeking a Senior National Sales Manager (VP of Sales) to lead our sales team and drive the growth of our business. This role is pivotal in developing and implementing effective sales strategies, identifying potential customers, and nurturing existing relationships with key clients and vendors. The Senior National Sales Manager will oversee customer and competitor activities, as well as industry trends, to ensure that we remain at the forefront of the market. This position is crucial for managing a sales volume of $70 million across multiple distribution channels, and it involves direct oversight of a team of 16 sales professionals. The ideal candidate will work closely with the President of James Martin Vanities and will be expected to establish and maintain strong relationships with key customers, including major retailers such as Floor and Decor, Home Depot, Lowes, and Ferguson. The Senior National Sales Manager will collaborate with the Finance Business Partner to develop and monitor pricing strategies and profitability programs. Additionally, this role will require active participation in the creation and execution of annual strategic business plans, ensuring alignment with the company's overall strategic direction. In this position, the Senior National Sales Manager will also manage JMV's representative agencies, ensuring they meet performance expectations in terms of revenue, service, growth, and cost. This includes conducting quarterly performance reviews and developing compensation strategies that incentivize sales growth and improve gross margins. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with a proven track record in sales leadership, capable of navigating the organization to achieve results and drive business success.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the JMV sales team with a focus on successful associate development including proactively identifying high-potential talent
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key customers, including but not limited to Floor and Decor, Home Depot, Lowes, and Ferguson
  • Work closely with Finance Business Partner to develop, monitor, and implement programs, pricing recommendations, and investments for profitability
  • Actively participate in developing and implementing annual strategic business plans
  • Manage JMV's representative agencies to ensure they perform at expected revenue, service, growth, and cost levels. Establish quarterly performance reviews
  • Develop and implement compensation strategies for the external manufacturer rep network that drive and reward sales growth and gross margin improvement
  • Understand and communicate JMV's strategic direction and implement sales activities consistent with strategy
  • Collaborate with key partners to implement strategies, maintaining product, pricing, promotion alignment, and discipline
  • Work closely with finance, supply chain, and marketing departments to optimize all sales opportunities
  • Responsible for delivering an accurate monthly forecast for field sales and key accounts and providing meaningful insights on customers and the market

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Management or combined education and experience equivalent
  • Must have ten (10) + years of experience in sales leadership, rep groups, multi-channel environment, and senior team engagement
  • Experience selling to builders, cabinet dealers, designers, and showroom consultants, ideally medium to higher end product category
  • Self-starter, collaborative teammate. Self-motivated with a high energy level capable of maneuvering throughout an organization to achieve results
  • Experience in the development and execution of strategic business plans
  • Proven track record for identifying and building new business
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, including communicating with all levels of employees and customers
  • Maintain up-to-date with all industry trends, issues, and news
