About the position

The Senior Natural Resources Scientist - Permitting position at Geosyntec involves working collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team to manage and execute environmental permitting projects. The role focuses on the identification and classification of wetlands, preparation of permit applications, and conducting ecological resource studies. This position is integral to supporting infrastructure projects while ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and fostering business development within the firm.

Responsibilities

  • Identify jurisdictional wetlands and classify and delineate wetlands and streams.
  • Determine mitigation requirements for environmental permitting of infrastructure projects.
  • Prepare Clean Water Act Sections 404 and 401 permit applications, and Section 408 from the US Army Corps of Engineers.
  • Conduct biological and ecological resource studies, including wildlife habitat assessments and vegetation surveys.
  • Prepare environmental documents for compliance with NEPA, including Environmental Assessments and Environmental Impact Statements.
  • Manage tasks and projects, including environmental inspections for compliance with permit conditions.
  • Assist in developing work plans, evaluating data, and preparing technical documents and environmental permit applications.
  • Manage subcontractors and conduct data analysis using GIS/Environmental Visualization Software.
  • Prepare for and participate in meetings with clients and regulatory personnel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental sciences, natural resources, environmental engineering, or environmental management disciplines.
  • At least 8 years of direct environmental permitting and planning experience, preferably in consulting.
  • Ability to handle multiple project assignments concurrently and meet strict deadlines.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degree in environmental sciences or related field.
  • Professional registration (i.e., PWD, PWS, CWB, CPSS, Arborist).
  • Certifications or additional training in wetland delineations.
