About the position

The Senior Network Engineer at Tyto Athene will play a crucial role in supporting a Cisco network environment for the Enterprise NG9-1-1 solution, which is essential for Public Service Answering Points (PSAP) across the continental United States, Hawaii, and Guam. This position focuses on ensuring the reliability and security of the network that facilitates both data and voice communications, requiring extensive experience in Cisco technologies and a commitment to high performance and uptime standards.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and deploy Cisco networking solutions, including switches, routers, and firewalls.
• Proactively monitor network performance, identify potential issues, and implement solutions using network analysis tools.
• Implement and maintain robust security measures to protect the network infrastructure.
• Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, changes, and incidents, and prepare performance reports.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support network-related projects and provide technical support to junior staff.
• Ensure compliance with regulations and standards related to public safety communications.
• Conduct training sessions for team members on network operations and security protocols.

Requirements

• Minimum of 10 years of experience in network engineering, particularly in Cisco environments.
• Experience in a 9-1-1 or public safety setting is highly desirable.
• Understanding of TCP/IP, common networking ports and protocols, and the OSI model.
• In-depth knowledge of Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls.
• Proficient in network protocols such as BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, and MPLS.
• Experience with VoIP technologies and QoS implementations.
• Familiarity with network monitoring tools like SolarWinds and Wireshark.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and in emergency situations.

Nice-to-haves

• Additional vendor network equipment experience (Juniper, Fortinet, Ubiquiti, etc.).
• Additional certifications such as CCIE or CISSP.
