About the position

The DARKWING Program at Lockheed Martin Space is seeking a highly motivated Network Engineer to join our team in Las Cruces, NM. This position is pivotal as the successful candidate will spearhead efforts and serve as the prime interface to coordinate and perform program network efforts and activities at our customer site. The ideal candidate should possess a solid engineering background and be well-versed in network design, hardware procurement, integration, and maintenance of network systems. A key aspect of this role involves troubleshooting network anomalies and failures, ensuring that all systems operate smoothly and efficiently. The candidate must demonstrate proficiency in setting up and maintaining network switches and routers, with a strong understanding of WAN and LAN technologies, particularly TCP/IP, LAN, and routing protocols. Experience with VPN and Firewall configuration and filtering is also essential. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are crucial, as the candidate will need to effectively explain procedures both in writing and verbally to various stakeholders. This is a day staff position; however, occasional weekend or evening work may be required to support 24X7 operations or maintenance activities. Applicants selected for this role will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information, specifically holding a TS/SCI clearance with an adjudicated CI Poly.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and perform program network efforts and activities at the customer site.
  • Troubleshoot network anomalies and failures to ensure system reliability.
  • Set up and maintain network switches and routers.
  • Implement and manage WAN and LAN technologies, including TCP/IP and routing protocols.
  • Configure and filter VPN and Firewall settings.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders regarding network status and issues.
  • Represent the team in meetings to provide updates on action items and project status.

Requirements

  • Knowledge and understanding of TCP/IP and LAN protocols.
  • Possession of Security+ and Network+ certifications.
  • Experience with BGP and OSPF routing protocols.
  • Familiarity with Juniper Switches.
  • Must hold a TS/SCI clearance with adjudicated CI Poly.

Nice-to-haves

  • Working knowledge of Data Centers.
  • Experience with Layer 2 and Layer 3 VLANS.
  • Familiarity with Windows, LINUX, DNS, and DHCP.
  • Hands-on experience in network integration, verification, and validation of large, complex systems.
  • Skills related to network design, diagnostics, and optimization.
  • Knowledge of system engineering processes and configuration management methods.
  • Detail-oriented with strong written, oral, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
