The Senior Network Engineer will focus on the installation, design, and architecture of routed and switched networks within a Department of Defense (DoD) environment. This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Engineering, or an equivalent field, with a Master's degree preferred. The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of experience in operating and designing network infrastructure, including 2+ years as a senior or lead engineer in software-defined networks. The Senior Network Engineer must possess a nationally recognized certification for network administrators/engineers/architects, meet IAT Level III requirements, and maintain an active Secret Clearance. In this role, the Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for designing and architecting routed and switched networks, incorporating current and emergent design principles and protocols. The engineer will plan, design, and build software-defined networks, enhancing the flexibility and efficiency of network infrastructure. Monitoring network performance, managing resource utilization, and conducting trending and capacity planning will also be key responsibilities. The engineer will implement and manage network virtualization technologies to optimize network operations and develop and maintain multi-tenant network architectures, ensuring secure and efficient functionality. The position requires utilizing a wide range of network routing and switching equipment from multiple vendors, maintaining expertise in these technologies. Additionally, the Senior Network Engineer will write scripts and code to automate network threshold events and streamline network management processes, ensuring that the network operates efficiently and effectively.
