The Senior Network Engineer for the Global Wide Area Network (GWAN) Team at Marriott is tasked with creating and enhancing secure network services and solutions that provide the best possible experience for Marriott Associates, contractors, and customers. The position requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, along with a minimum of 7 years of experience as a Network Engineer. Candidates should have hands-on experience implementing engineering standards, documenting designs, and participating in project cutovers. Key responsibilities include the implementation of WAN, LAN, and datacenter networks, focusing on mission-critical, customer-facing applications and services. The role demands technical knowledge in networking, particularly with Cisco and non-Cisco technologies, emphasizing software-defined networking (SDN), firewalls, DNS, NTP, and common routing protocols like OSPF and BGP across large global networks. Additionally, the Senior Network Engineer will design and deliver networking services in public clouds such as AWS, Azure, and GCP, and will be responsible for WAN connectivity to these clouds using native connect solutions. The role also involves writing Infrastructure as Code for cloud network components and managing virtualized network services. The candidate must be willing to work non-standard hours during change implementations and service restoration efforts, and should have experience leveraging automation, AI, and machine learning in network management. Strong interpersonal communication skills are essential for collaborating with non-technical teams and customers. Core activities include network design, engineering, implementation, and operational optimization for the Corporate Network GWAN product, ensuring compliance with applicable standards. The engineer will manage network service and circuit capacity, plan and deliver projects, and provide L3 escalation support for operational issues. Collaboration with key teams such as Network Architects and Information Security is crucial, as is participation in product strategy and planning to develop new initiatives aimed at simplifying, standardizing, and optimizing network operations.
