About the position

The Senior Network Engineer at Citizens plays a critical role in managing the organization's computer networks and infrastructure. This hybrid position involves collaborating with a team of skilled engineers to plan, implement, and oversee network operations essential for business continuity. The role emphasizes technical expertise to ensure network stability and successful deployment of new locations, while also providing opportunities for professional growth and impact within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Apply technical expertise and problem-solving methodologies to projects of moderate scope.
  • Lead the design and deployment of third-party connections into the Citizens network in a secure, redundant manner.
  • Drive a workstream or project consisting of one or more infrastructure engineering technologies.
  • Install, configure, and maintain network hardware and software.
  • Collaborate with other platform teams to design and implement changes required to resolve issues and modernize technology processes.
  • Ensure network designs adhere to industry best practices and security standards.
  • Execute creative solutions for design, development, and technical troubleshooting for problems of moderate complexity.
  • Monitor and manage networks; identify potential entry points or weaknesses; detect intrusions; manage prevention technologies.
  • Manage highly complex secure connectivity solutions to ensure the integrity of sensitive financial data.
  • Collaborate with engineering and IT teams to plan, develop, execute, and support infrastructure and network-related projects.
  • Provide Tier II technical network support and assist with the resolution of escalating tickets.
  • Audit technical network support tickets and document patterns and trends.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of working experience in network engineering, systems administration, or related field.
  • Experience with network monitoring solutions.
  • Experience with engineering, planning, and developing network solutions.
  • In-depth knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF) and current industry best practices.
  • Experience working in a multitenant data center (e.g., Equinix, Switch).
  • Cisco or Arista certification.
  • Working experience in the financial services industry; understanding of consumer and custodial banks' roles.
  • Experience implementing large-scale infrastructure solutions with a proven track record of success.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to lead complex technical projects.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) and experience with automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform).
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
