About the position
The Senior Network Engineer position at Cognizant involves managing and implementing security measures and network configurations to support digital transformation initiatives. This hybrid role requires expertise in firewall management, VPN configurations, and collaboration with various teams to ensure secure and efficient network operations.
Responsibilities
- Verify requests for firewall rule openings and implement changes in Checkpoint and Cisco firewalls.
- Verify requests for new virtual IP creation in F5 LTM and GTM, implementing changes as needed.
- Handle GRE and IPSec VPN tunnels and related issues in Cisco and Checkpoint devices.
- Work within a Service Now Ticketing environment to manage incidents and requests.
- Participate in Change Management Calls to present and seek approval for changes.
- Test, fix, and validate F5 and firewall changes with application team validators.
- Collaborate with vendor support teams on infrastructure-related issues.
Requirements
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Experience with Checkpoint Firewalls, Cisco ASA or FTD, and F5 load balancers (LTM/GTM).
- Knowledge of networking concepts such as DHCP, DNS, IP Address management, NAT, IPSec VPN, NTP, SNMP.
- Debugging skills with F5 GUI, CLI, log files, and TCPDUMP processes in an enterprise network environment.
- Basic understanding of enterprise routing (EIGRP, BGP, VRFs) and switching (virtual switches, stack switches).
- Ability to work collaboratively with teams across different geographies.
