About the position
The Senior Network Engineer position at Cognizant involves managing and implementing network security measures, particularly focusing on firewall configurations and virtual IP management. This hybrid role requires collaboration with various teams and vendors to ensure the integrity and performance of network infrastructure, while also participating in change management processes. The position is crucial for supporting the digital transformation initiatives of clients by ensuring a secure and efficient network environment.
Responsibilities
- Verify requests for firewall rule openings and implement changes in Checkpoint and Cisco firewalls.
- Manage requests for new virtual IP creation in F5 LTM and GTM, ensuring compliance with change processes.
- Handle GRE and IPSec VPN tunnels and troubleshoot related issues in Cisco and Checkpoint devices.
- Work within a Service Now ticketing environment to manage incidents and requests.
- Participate in Change Management Calls to present and seek approval for changes.
- Test, fix, and validate F5 and firewall changes in collaboration with the Application Team.
- Coordinate with vendor support teams to resolve infrastructure-related issues.
Requirements
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Experience with Checkpoint Firewalls, Cisco ASA or FTD, and F5 load balancers (LTM/GTM).
- Strong understanding of networking concepts such as DHCP, DNS, IP Address management, NAT, IPSec VPN, NTP, and SNMP.
- Proficient in debugging and fixing issues using F5 GUI, CLI, log files, and TCPDUMP processes.
- Basic knowledge of Enterprise Routing (EIGRP, BGP, VRFs) and Enterprise switching.
Nice-to-haves
- F5 configuration scripting and automation capabilities.
- Understanding of CISCO ACI and AWS.
