About the position

The Senior Network Engineer Lead at Leidos is responsible for overseeing large-scale migration and operations on a high-profile DOD contract. This role involves providing enterprise-wide IT support to the DTRA's Information Management & Technology Directorate, focusing on modernizing and innovating IT services. The lead will coordinate and provide expertise in network implementation, operation, and maintenance, including advanced delivery services such as DevSecOps and CI/CD.

Responsibilities

  • Provide thought leadership to a team of network engineers, identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation.
  • Design, maintain, and operate Wireless and Local Area Networks (LANs/WLAN) and Wide Area Networks (WANs) using Infrastructure as Code and Ansible Automation Platform.
  • Lead the migration of DISA and other DoD organizations to IPv6.
  • Automate network changes across various vendor platforms and Azure Cloud.
  • Provide inputs to the design of the enterprise's network and mission architecture.
  • Evaluate network architectures to ensure alignment with cloud and network modernization strategies.
  • Enforce security best practices and guidelines, leveraging knowledge of security policies and network security.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 12+ years of prior relevant experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Top Secret clearance.
  • Experience designing, deploying, and operating software-defined networking solutions.
  • Expert understanding of networking in LAN, WAN, TCP/UDP, IPSec, VPN, proxies, routing (L2/L3), firewalls, and software-defined networking.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • ITIL Version 4 Foundation and one or more ITIL Practice Manager, Managing Professional, or Strategic Leader certifications.
  • One or more DoDD 8140.01 certifications related to performance.
  • One or more technical or management certifications related to service delivery.
  • Experience supporting DevSecOps-enabled delivery methodologies and technologies.
  • Experience delivering executive-level technical briefings to senior Government personnel.
  • Active PMI Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certified Cisco Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent.
  • Working experience installing, configuring, and managing Infoblox DDI (DNS, DHCP, and IPAM).
