About the position

The Network Security Engineer plays a critical role in managing the computer networks of Citizens Bank, ensuring the stability and security of business operations. This position involves planning, implementing, and overseeing secure network architectures across various environments, including AWS and Azure. The engineer will collaborate with a skilled team to enhance network security, optimize firewall configurations, and ensure compliance with industry regulations while providing Tier 3 on-call support for network technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Support and implement secure network architectures in AWS, Azure, and on-premises data centers.
  • Develop and document network security standards and guidelines.
  • Conduct comprehensive security assessments and remediate findings from penetration testing.
  • Implement network segmentation and access control mechanisms.
  • Manage and optimize firewall configurations to prevent unauthorized access.
  • Develop and implement firewall rules and policies.
  • Monitor firewall logs and alerts for suspicious activity.
  • Support and manage load balancers to ensure high availability of applications.
  • Conduct regular security audits and risk assessments to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Implement automated processes to improve efficiency and reduce human error.
  • Collaborate with security teams to investigate incidents and implement countermeasures.
  • Engage with vendors to ensure best practices and optimal performance.
  • Provide Tier 3 on-call support for network technologies.

Requirements

  • In-depth knowledge of network security protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF).
  • Extensive experience with security technologies such as Palo Alto Networks firewalls and F5 load balancers.
  • Strong understanding of network segmentation, access control, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
  • 4-7 years of proven experience designing and implementing secure network architectures.
  • Familiarity with GRC frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001) is a plus.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) and automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform).
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certifications such as CISSP, CCNP Security, AWS Certified Security - Specialty, or Azure Security Engineer Associate.
  • Experience in multi-cloud environments.
