About the position

Parsons is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sr. Network Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will be a core participant and leader in our network operations, focusing on core Data Center Networking and managing a complex BGP routing environment. We are looking for an individual who is not only passionate about networking but also eager to learn and apply new skills in areas such as automation, cloud networking, and network as code. Your contributions will be essential in facilitating next-generation architectural design, ensuring that our network infrastructure is robust, scalable, and secure. As a Sr. Network Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and documenting next-generation networks that incorporate multi-cloud environments and SDWAN solutions. You will configure and install software, servers, routers, and other network devices, while also monitoring network performance to ensure integrity and reliability. In addition, you will resolve escalated support issues by troubleshooting both cloud and local infrastructure, leveraging your expertise to design automated tasks and monitor their effectiveness. Mentoring team members on technical issues will also be a key aspect of your role, as you help to foster a culture of learning and collaboration within the team. Your responsibilities will include creating, overseeing, and testing security measures such as access authentication and disaster recovery protocols. You will communicate effectively with end users and peers across the globe, maintaining and updating comprehensive technical documentation. Furthermore, you will be expected to suggest improvements to network performance, capacity, and scalability, ensuring that our network infrastructure continues to meet the evolving needs of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Design and document next generation networks to include multi-cloud and SDWAN
  • Configure and install software, servers, routers and other network devices
  • Monitor network performance and ensure integrity
  • Resolve escalated support issues by troubleshooting cloud and local infrastructure
  • Leverage and design automated tasks and monitor their effectiveness
  • Mentor team members on technical issues
  • Create, oversee and test security measures (e.g. access authentication and disaster recovery)
  • Communicate with end users/peers across the globe
  • Maintain and update complete technical documentation
  • Suggest improvements to network performance, capacity and scalability

Requirements

  • 10+ Years Industry-related experience as a Senior Network Engineer designing and deploying functional networks
  • Professional certification (e.g. CCNP, CCIE)
  • Solid understanding of network operating systems (e.g. Cisco IOS, Cisco NS-OX, Juniper JUNOS)
  • Solid background in network administration and architecture
  • Azure and AWS Cloud design and networking knowledge and experience
  • In-depth understanding of communication protocols (mainly TCP/IP) and routing protocols (e.g. BGP, OSPF) with emphasis on BGP
  • Familiarity with access control models and network security
  • Extensive knowledge and application of coding languages for scripting and automation (e.g Python, Ansible)
  • Familiarity with devops philosophies, practices, and tools
  • Experience with network diagnostic, monitoring, and analysis tools (e.g. LogicMonitor)
  • Sharp troubleshooting skills
  • Organizational and mentoring skills

Nice-to-haves

  • Palo Alto Prisma SD-WAN
  • BSc/BA in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • Nautobot familiarity and use with automation
