About the position

The Network Engineer Senior position at GDIT involves supporting the US Battlefield Information Collection and Exploitation System eXtended (US BICES-X), a program focused on enhancing DoD intelligence information sharing. The role requires collaboration with network staff to ensure reliable operations, design network architecture, and manage network issues while providing training and technical guidance. The position is critical in supporting combatant commands and requires a Top Secret/SCI clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with network staff to ensure smooth and reliable operation of software and systems.
  • Work with executive team members and stakeholders to define business requirements and systems goals.
  • Design and define network architecture for new or existing computer systems.
  • Participate in the upgrading of operating systems and design of network enhancements.
  • Provide input for documentation on new or existing networks.
  • Develop and conduct tests to ensure networks meet documented user requirements.
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve network problems.
  • Provide network/equipment/specialized training and technical guidance.
  • Determine network specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility.
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of related Network Engineering experience.
  • Must possess and maintain a Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance.
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent experience.
  • Must possess a completed CCNA certification.
  • Must meet DOD 8750 requirements and be eligible for IAT level II access upon hire.
  • Knowledge and experience with service provider routing and switching protocols (e.g. IS-IS, BGP, MPLS).
  • Knowledge and experience with enterprise routing and switching protocols (e.g. OSPF, EIGRP, BGP).
  • Ability to configure and troubleshoot Multicast, DMVPN, and GRE tunnels.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Completed Professional tier Juniper or Cisco Certification specialized in Enterprise or Service Provider routing and switching.
  • Knowledge and experience with Juniper JUNOS software and hardware.
  • Knowledge of Automation technologies for networking (e.g. Python/Ansible).
  • Experience with firewalls and firewall rule sets.
