About the position

Our valued client, a global construction and engineering services firm and family-owned business based in Baton Rouge, LA, is seeking a Network Engineer / Voice & Data Engineer to join their growing team on a full-time basis. This is an onsite position based in Baton Rouge, LA. Relocation assistance will be considered; however, the individual must reside in or near the Baton Rouge area and be willing to work alongside a large team in the office. In this role, you will have the opportunity to leverage your expertise in designing, implementing, and maintaining cutting-edge voice and data network solutions. Responsibilities

  • Design and configure sophisticated Cisco Call Manager and Unity systems, handling everything from voice gateways to call routing and recording.
  • Actively monitor and troubleshoot network issues utilizing advanced tools like Cisco Unified Serviceability, RTMT, and Wireshark.
  • Conduct network maintenance tasks, including firmware updates, system patches, and regular backups.
  • Enforce robust network security policies and procedures, including managing firewall configurations and VPN access.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of network setups, using tools like Visio and Excel, to ensure clear communication and effective team collaboration.
  • Provide technical support to end users, offering guidance to enhance system usability and performance.
  • Work closely with interdisciplinary IT teams to ensure seamless network integration and compatibility.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or significant equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of dedicated experience in converged voice and data network engineering, particularly with Cisco Call Manager and Unity systems.
  • Certifications such as Cisco CCNA Voice or CCNP Voice preferred.
  • Expertise in network design and practical experience with routing, switching, firewalls, and VPN technologies.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in network troubleshooting and tools such as ping, traceroute, and SNMP.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving abilities, capable of working under pressure both independently and as part of a team.
