About the position

As a Senior Network Engineer at ManTech International Corporation, you will play a crucial role in providing technical support for the development, testing, deployment, and sustainment of complex telecommunication systems. This position is integral to ensuring the security of our nation while working on innovative projects that offer opportunities for advancement. You will be part of a diverse team that interacts with both technical and non-technical teammates, including customers and vendors, and will be recognized as a subject matter expert in IP and Optical networks, including WAN and LAN in various environments such as DEV/TEST and Production. In this role, you will be responsible for providing technical assistance, administering configurations, supporting testing, recommending enhancements, and troubleshooting issues associated with various network components. You will provide engineering and technical expertise on all issues relating to telecommunications networks and information systems within the Defense Information Systems Network (DISN). Your responsibilities will include researching, analyzing, and developing reports that provide engineering recommendations across a broad range of specialized network/system functional areas, such as network systems engineering, network topology planning, and management of network configurations. Collaboration is key in this position, as you will work closely with contract and DISN government engineers, project managers, and task managers to coordinate, implement, and test new projects, ensuring successful transitions to operations. You will need to understand the impact of U.S. defense doctrine on operations, maintenance, and management of both tactical and strategic systems, and how to effectively interface these systems into a seamless entity. Your specialized knowledge of military unique features built into the network and its hardware and software will be essential in supporting the warfighter's requirements. Additionally, you will evaluate system network requirements and make appropriate technical recommendations, oversee performance verification testing, and monitor network performance to support project deployments as required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering and technical expertise on all issues relating to the specified telecommunications networks/information systems within the DISN.
  • Research, analyze and/or develop reports that provide engineering and recommendations across a broad range of specialized network/system functional areas.
  • Collaborate with contract and DISN government engineers and leadership, project managers, and GSM-O Task Managers for coordination, implementation, and testing of new projects.
  • Evaluate system network requirements and make appropriate technical recommendations.
  • Provide engineering to establish remote management connectivity, oversee performance verification testing, and configure alarm and system profiles.
  • Support installation test and acceptance (IT&A) of network components by directing and/or facilitating remote testing with on-site field engineering support.
  • Monitor network performance and support project deployments as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 12+ years of overall related experience or Master with 10+ years.
  • Must possess an active Top Secret with ability to obtain SCI clearance.
  • Must possess a current DoD 8750 certification at IAT level II (or higher) such as Security+ce.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills, strong customer relation and leadership abilities.
  • Experience in remotely configuring networking or transport devices.
  • Familiar with SONET, TDM, DWDM, IP, and MPLS networks.
  • Expertise in one or more of the following: IP routing, QoS, traffic engineering, DNS; TDM switching; Optical Transport; Crypto; Network appliances.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency with Juniper IOS, CISCO IOS, or other IP/transport specific management tools.
  • Expert knowledge of IP principles and protocols.
  • Proficiency on at least two or more of the following devices: Juniper MX routers, Ciena 6500/5160 Optical Platforms, Cisco 42XX series.
  • Basic Linux Administration or command line interface (CLI) and scripting skills.
  • General knowledge RADIUS, SNMP, NTP, TLS and PKI protocols.
  • Proficient with VISIO drawing software.
  • Possess an understanding of the physical network infrastructure including fiber optics and copper wiring standards.
