We are seeking an established and dynamic Senior Network Engineer to help maintain and operate the exciting and growing AMDS's classified networks. As a Senior Network Engineer, you will design, implement, and maintain enterprise network architectures. You will lead the planning and execution of network infrastructure projects, including migrations, upgrades, and expansions. Additionally, you will develop and implement network security policies and procedures to safeguard against cyber threats and vulnerabilities. Your role will also involve evaluating and recommending new technologies, tools, and methodologies to enhance network performance and reliability. You will provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior members of the networking team, collaborating with multi-functional teams to integrate network solutions with other IT systems and applications. Regular performance monitoring and capacity planning will be part of your responsibilities to ensure optimal network operation. You will troubleshoot and resolve network issues, including outages and performance degradation, and develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for network configurations, processes, and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain enterprise network architectures.
  • Lead the planning and execution of network infrastructure projects, including migrations, upgrades, and expansions.
  • Develop and implement network security policies and procedures to safeguard against cyber threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies, tools, and methodologies to enhance network performance and reliability.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior members of the networking team.
  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams to integrate network solutions with other IT systems and applications.
  • Conduct regular performance monitoring and capacity planning to ensure optimal network operation.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network issues, including outages and performance degradation.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for network configurations, processes, and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or additional 5 years experience in network engineering.
  • 5+ years of Networking experience, designing and implementing large-scale network solutions in enterprise environments.
  • Relevant certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent.
  • Deep knowledge of networking protocols, technologies, and best practices, including TCP/IP, Nexus vPC, OSPF, VLANs, HSRP, Spanning-Tree, and Multicast.
  • A track record of successfully leading multiple engineering efforts from concept development to implementation, providing regular progress updates to stakeholders, and driving projects to completion.
  • Extensive experience with network hardware and software from vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, and Arista.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Solid grasp of network security principles and technologies, including firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and encryption.
  • Ability to prioritize and lead multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • A solid understanding of Ethernet cable transport technologies including Fiber Optic and Twisted-Pair cable.
  • Have or can obtain an IAT Level II Certification including though not limited to Security+ CE Certification.
  • Able to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a Secret level security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with Cisco NX-OS or IOS.
  • Maintained an environment using SolarWinds.
  • Familiarity with configuring, managing, and fixing TACLANEs, including GEM One.
  • Experience implementing Risk Management Framework (RMF) technical controls through Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) and Security Requirements Guides (SRG).
  • A working knowledge of the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) Assessment and Authorization Process Manual (DAAPM) or Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) policies.
