About the position

The Senior Network Engineer at Dartmouth-Hitchcock is responsible for supporting the area facilities and enterprise network operations. This role involves collaborating with Network Engineering staff, Project/Facilities Managers, and Clinic and Hospital Support Staff to ensure the effective installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of network hardware and systems. The position requires a strong understanding of Cisco network and security technology solutions and necessitates an onsite presence in Lebanon, NH, with travel across the greater New England area.

Responsibilities

  • Support installation, basic configuration, and troubleshooting of LAN/WAN network deployments, including switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless networking technologies.
  • Produce and update technical documentation and diagrams supporting Engineering and Operations teams as part of regular operations and project requirements.
  • Perform equipment upgrades, including racking, configuring, patching, testing, and troubleshooting/diagnostics.
  • Provide timely communication to the team, operations center, and clients during high-stress incidents, notifying them of impending changes or agreed-upon service impacts, and attending required meetings.
  • Respond quickly to changing support needs and work in all manner of clinical areas.
  • Demonstrate good verbal and written communications and the ability to cross-train and interact with all manner of IT Support teams and staff as well as employees and vendor representatives.
  • Quickly learn new technologies required for accomplishing all assigned tasks and any related project/implementation goals.
  • Work well independently and as part of an enterprise network engineering support team.
  • Demonstrate an appropriate sense of urgency working in production clinical environments, ensuring exceptional customer service and communication.
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of DH standards, procedures, policies, and operations and how they relate to the enterprise operational needs and uphold these standards in daily operations.
  • Coordinate with third-party labor (remote hands) ensuring completion and quality control as per enterprise standards.
  • Analyze and resolve complex issues with an emphasis on user satisfaction.
  • Support multiple tasks in a high-pressure environment while maintaining a professional demeanor.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.

Requirements

  • Experience with Cisco network and security technology solutions and implementations.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for operational hardware, systems, and circuits.
  • Ability to produce and update technical documentation and diagrams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Capability to learn new technologies quickly.
