About the position

The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, analyzing, troubleshooting, and documenting computer networks and infrastructure. This role involves performance monitoring and ensuring security compliance while leading major network projects to support capacity growth and integration of new products. The engineer will also evaluate current network systems, recommend changes, and provide upper-tier diagnosis and resolution of network problems.

Responsibilities

• Designing, developing, analyzing, troubleshooting, and documenting computer networks and infrastructure.
• Monitoring performance and documenting a statewide network using industry best practices for security and disaster recovery.
• Developing and analyzing network designs and protocols, including prototyping and assessment.
• Planning, engineering, forecasting, and implementing network systems while identifying resource requirements.
• Leading and assisting in major network projects to support capacity growth and integration of new products/features.
• Evaluating current network systems and recommending changes in maintenance and systems standards.
• Training support personnel on conversion, implementation, and troubleshooting.
• Applying knowledge of standards and industry trends for LAN, WAN, Wireless, Data Center, and Cloud networking.
• Driving improvements in network processes, efficiency, and standardization.
• Ensuring security compliance and adherence to change control processes.
• Providing diagnosis, isolation, and resolution of network problems, including root cause identification.
• Proactively identifying potential issues in the production environment and recommending solutions.
• Developing comprehensive documentation and managing the implementation process from design to acceptance.
• Hosting weekly status meetings with the team and overseeing activities to resolve end-user hardware and software problems.
• Assisting in the creation of robust network designs and acting as the escalation point of contact for implementations.
• Overseeing the configuration, maintenance, and documentation of network devices.

Requirements

• Associate degree in an Information Technology (IT) related field.
• Active certifications: Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Enterprise or Security Certification.
• Ten years of CONUS technical experience in IT networking.
• Bachelor's degree in an IT related field.
• Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) in Enterprise Infrastructure or Security Certification issued within the last four years.
• Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE) Certification.
• Prisma Certified Cloud Security Engineer (PCCSE) Certification from Palo Alto Networks.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Layer 2 & 3 optimization and boundary virtual switching systems.
• Knowledge of scalable routing protocols (BGP, EIGRP, OSPF).
• Experience with Enterprise Data Center and cloud Networking for Virtualization, SDN, Load Balancing, storage.
• Familiarity with Zero Trust Network Access and micro-segmentation.
• Understanding of High Availability in Enterprise environments.
• Experience with advanced WAN service layers, SDWANs, and WAN Optimization applications.
• Knowledge of current Network Security Services applications and appliances.
• Experience with Enterprise VoIP and physical security environments.
• Understanding of Quality-of-Service design and implementation.
• Familiarity with Network Management Protocols and Operating System capabilities.
• Installation and configuration experience with Cisco Catalyst, Nexus, and Palo Alto platforms.
