About the position

The Senior Network Engineer at Accenture Federal Services is responsible for the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of the organization's WAN and LAN hardware. This role focuses on managing network devices such as firewalls, routers, and switches to ensure secure and efficient network operations, with an emphasis on optimizing network performance and reliability through advanced networking technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement new network solutions and improve the efficiency of current networks.
  • Install, configure, and support network equipment including routers, switches, firewalls, and cryptographic devices.
  • Manage and maintain WAN and LAN connectivity, network segments, and Internet access.
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot problem areas as needed.
  • Ensure network security and connectivity through proper configuration of VPNs, firewalls, and related security protocols.
  • Configure routing protocols, including BGP, to optimize network traffic flow and redundancy.
  • Collaborate with other teams to ensure the smooth and reliable operation of software and systems for fulfilling business objectives and processes.
  • Work with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to users with varying levels of IT knowledge.

Requirements

  • Possess a DoD 8570/8140 Certification.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years of hands-on experience as a Network Engineer in network infrastructure and network hardware.
  • Experience with network diagnostic, monitoring, and analysis tools.
  • Familiarity with network operating systems (JUNOS, Cisco IOS, Arista EOS).
  • Experience implementing, administering, and troubleshooting network infrastructure devices.
  • Knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols.
  • Experience with IPSEC tunnel creation and management.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional certification (e.g., CCNA, CCNP).
  • Experience in cloud networking; Azure preferred.
  • Experience applying STIG and/or best practice security concepts to network devices.
  • Experience with using Ansible or other automated tools to deploy and manage network devices.
