About the position

We are looking for a Senior Network Engineer to join our team on a 6-month contract-to-hire basis. This position is critical as we have made a significant investment of 3 million dollars into our IT infrastructure, with additional investments into cloud technology on the horizon. The immediate focus will be on upgrading our network security by changing firewalls to one of Cisco, Meraki, or Palo Alto, with Palo Alto being the most likely choice. We are also transitioning from an MPLS to an SDWAN network, upgrading all network switches to Cisco, and moving to a cloud-based phone system using Cisco WebEx Calling. Furthermore, we are working on migrating O365 SharePoint and Power BI to the cloud, with Outlook already transitioned. Future investments will include a full transition to Azure cloud, establishing a new collocation data center, and implementing a disaster management system. The Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for maintaining the computing environment by planning, designing, installing, configuring, maintaining, and optimizing all network hardware and software. This role requires diagnosing and resolving network problems in a timely and accurate manner. The engineer will determine security requirements, which include developing security plans, administering antivirus software and updates, managing firewalls, applying OS-level patches and updates, and generating reports. Ensuring database availability and system security, managing backups, access, and policies are also key responsibilities. The engineer will perform technical tasks required to deploy servers and other types of hardware and computer networks, assemble and update documentation in the form of trouble ticket logs, network diagrams, and monthly reports. Additionally, providing technical assistance to internal and external customers and coordinating with network service providers to resolve system outages will be essential duties.
