About the position

Our client, a high-tech company that works on numerous projects throughout the world, mostly related to homeland security and defense, is looking for a Senior Network Engineer in Fort Worth, TX. The Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for designing, maintaining, and managing the organization's IT infrastructure, ensuring system security and integration with current applications. This role will support network and operations departments with new technologies, making it essential for the candidate to be skilled with Next Generation versions of Cisco, F5, Palo Alto/Juniper on-prem equipment, and cloud-based services. In this position, the Senior Network Engineer will be expected to design, architect, and maintain solutions for both on-prem and cloud environments, addressing requirements for scalability, reliability, security, and performance. The role also involves automating installations and implementations for provisioning and operating infrastructure in a reliable and repeatable manner. The engineer will participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation and will work closely with a team of architects and engineers, acting as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Network, Datacenter, and related requests. The Senior Network Engineer will create functional design specifications for on-prem and cloud reference architectures and assist with other network and related project deliverables as needed. Regular system maintenance will be part of the daily responsibilities, along with implementing operating system enhancements to improve reliability. The engineer will interact with software, systems, IT engineering, and applications development teams to restore service and ensure that long-term requirements of systems operations and administration are included in the overall information systems planning of the organization. Additionally, the engineer will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, configuration, and integrity of network-related computer software, monitoring the performance of the overall network and collaboration systems, and maintaining a high level of technical skill in the field of expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Design, architect & maintain solutions for on-prem and cloud environments to address scalability, reliability, security, and performance requirements.
  • Automate installations and implementations for provisioning and operating infrastructure in a reliable and repeatable manner.
  • Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation availability.
  • Work closely with a team of architects and engineers, acting as the SME for Network, Datacenter, and related requests.
  • Create functional design specifications for on-prem & cloud reference architectures and assist with other network and related project deliverables as needed.
  • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly system maintenance as required.
  • Implement operating system enhancements that will improve reliability.
  • Interact with software, systems, IT engineering, and/or applications development to restore service.
  • Ensure long-term requirements of systems operations and administration are included in the overall information systems planning of the organization.
  • Responsible for the installation, maintenance, configuration, and integrity of network-related computer software.
  • Monitor the performance of the overall network and/or collaboration systems.
  • Maintain current trends and a high level of technical skill in the field of expertise.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology or 5+ years of hands-on experience.
  • ESD and Safety Training, as dictated by Safety Department (within one year of taking position).
  • Knowledge with Cisco, Azure NSGs, Routing Tables, Apps Gateways, and Traffic Managers.
  • Knowledge of Network Load balancers like F5/NetScaler.
  • Proficient in one or more programming languages.
  • Some working knowledge of Software-Defined Networking.
  • Best practice implementation of WAN, Disaster Recovery, and multi-site architecture.
  • Knowledge of LAN/WAN/WIRELESS routing and switching for storage, voice, and video.
  • Cisco troubleshooting tools and support services experience.
  • General knowledge of virtualization and Cloud Computing.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft OS: 2012/2016/2019 Server and Windows 7/10.
  • Knowledge of Nextgen Firewalls, Switching, and Load balancers.
  • Hardware sourcing, deployment, administration, and maintenance experience.
  • Knowledge of MPLS, DIA, SDWAN technologies.
