The Senior Network Engineer at Simmons Foods, Inc. & Affiliates is responsible for the design, configuration, implementation, documentation, and maintenance of the network environment. This role is crucial in ensuring high levels of security, availability, and performance within the Simmons network. The engineer will prepare the network for resilience, modularity, and scalability, demonstrating a thorough understanding of routing and switching protocols, including SDWAN (Cisco), interconnecting cloud network infrastructure with on-premise networks (AWS, OIC), and IP Voice and Video Collaboration solutions. The position requires experience with EIGRP/BGP, Spanning-Tree, OSI network model, and network automation using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with Terraform. In addition to technical skills, the Senior Network Engineer will monitor, analyze, and troubleshoot the network, ensuring optimal functionality and availability. This includes tracking changes within the network environment and taking corrective actions when necessary. The engineer will document and implement new hardware, identify current and desired states, and ensure compliance with existing network standards. They will also manage projects from initiation to completion under the direction of the Network Manager, creating a roadmap to achieve the desired state of the network. The role involves continual improvement of the network environment, recommending modifications based on evidence and documentation. The engineer will stay ahead of emerging technologies such as IPv6, OpenFlow, and FabricPath. Collaboration is key, as the engineer will work independently and as part of a team, mentoring other infrastructure team members and participating in team meetings to foster cohesiveness and address any issues that arise. Physical demands include working in various environments, including office and manufacturing plants, and the ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and employees. The position requires moderate travel to remote locations, including potential travel to Canada, and the ability to obtain and maintain a valid passport. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of experience in network engineering or infrastructure, with a preference for experience in the poultry or food processing industry. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Systems is required, along with relevant certifications such as CCIE, JNCIE, or CCNP.
