About the position

The Senior Network Engineer at Green Bay Packaging is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the company's network and telephony environment. This role involves implementing, optimizing, and supporting network technologies while managing help desk tickets and collaborating with other tech teams. The position emphasizes a collaborative work environment and requires in-person presence at the corporate location in Green Bay, WI.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and administer Cisco computer networks including hardware and configurations.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve hardware and other network and system problems.
  • Replace faulty network hardware components when required.
  • Define and monitor network performance.
  • Work with end users to solve existing network issues.
  • Lead implementations of new network solutions and/or improve the efficiency of current networks.
  • Install, configure, and support network equipment including routers, switches, and wireless environment.
  • Arrange scheduled upgrades of network equipment to the latest firmware releases.
  • Investigate faults in the network.
  • Be dependable and flexible when necessary.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of extensive hands-on network engineering experience.
  • Expert level understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware.
  • Expert level understanding of physical layer and cabling standards.
  • Efficient ability to think through problems and visualize solutions.
  • Expert level at implementing, administering, and troubleshooting network infrastructure devices, including wireless access points, firewalls, routers, switches, and wireless environment.
  • Ability to create accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network communication systems.
  • Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technology and products using documentation and internet resources.
  • Ability to work with all levels of staff within and outside of IT and outside the organization.
  • A self-starter able to work independently but comfortable working in a team environment.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
