About the position

The Senior Network Engineer at Expedia Group is responsible for configuring and managing enterprise-grade network hardware and cloud IaaS networks. This role involves ensuring secure and efficient network operations, supporting various infrastructure facets, and driving connectivity within public cloud providers. The position requires collaboration with internal teams and stakeholders to deliver high-quality network solutions that enhance the overall experience for travelers, partners, and employees.

Responsibilities

  • Configure enterprise-grade network hardware.
  • Operate and automate cloud IaaS networks such as AWS, Azure, and GCP.
  • Incorporate appropriate models for technologies into designs to observe network behavior and performance.
  • Recommend and justify technology choices to stakeholders at varying levels of seniority.
  • Maintain communication with internal customer or partner organizations impacted by network changes.
  • Conduct deep reviews of data and issues to identify root causes and execute solutions.
  • Manage network responsibilities for LAN, WAN, and telecommunications systems.
  • Communicate across internal peer groups to share knowledge and dependencies of new or improved architecture solutions.
  • Stay updated with emerging technology trends and best practices that could benefit the company.
  • Analyze issues and implement holistic solutions by linking structure, people, process, and technology.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience mentoring junior individuals.
  • Ability to drive end-to-end project technical design and make technology choices.
  • Intermediate to expert skills in routing protocols such as OSPF, MPBGP, ISIS, MPLS.
  • Experience with AWS network services like Transit Gateway, Direct Connect, Cloud WAN, and AWS Network Firewall.
  • Hands-on experience with VXLAN, Palo Alto firewalls, and network load balancing technologies.
  • Understanding of physical and virtual network technologies and their interoperability.
  • Knowledge of application, database, and technology platform integration.
  • Ability to identify issues with product quality and performance and propose improvements.
  • Intermediate to expert knowledge of network state models and configuration tools such as SNMP, NetFlow, IPFIX, Netconf, Restconf, gRPC.
  • Relevant technical certifications such as Cisco CCNP, CCIE, AWS Professional, or AWS Network Specialty.
