About the position

The Senior Network Engineer position is a critical role within our IT department, located in Philadelphia, PA. This is a day one onsite role, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and immediate engagement with the team and projects. The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 5-8 years of progressive experience in IT support roles, showcasing a strong foundation in network engineering and systems administration. The role requires expert knowledge of MS Windows Server and/or SUSE Linux/Novell OES, as well as VMWare ESX, alongside a deep understanding of network protocols. In addition to technical expertise, the Senior Network Engineer will be responsible for managing directory services, particularly NDS and MS Active Directory. Familiarity with Novell or NetIQ products, including Identity Manager, Access Manager, or Zenworks, is highly desired. The candidate should also have experience with Fibre Channel zoning and provisioning SAN storage solutions, with a preference for those who have worked with Hitachi systems. VDI experience with VMWare Horizon View and ThinApp is also a significant advantage. The role demands a solid customer focus, with the ability to manage client expectations effectively. The Senior Network Engineer will be expected to plan and oversee day-to-day activities independently, demonstrating strong troubleshooting skills to identify and assess risks and determine appropriate actions. Analytical and problem-solving skills are essential, along with excellent oral and written communication abilities. This position is pivotal in ensuring the smooth operation of our network infrastructure and supporting our organizational goals.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5-8 years of progressive relevant experience in IT support roles.
  • Novell or Microsoft Certification highly desired.
  • Expert knowledge of MS Windows Server and/or SUSE Linux/Novell OES and/or VMWare ESX, as well as network protocols.
  • Administrator experience with directory services, such as NDS and/or MS Active Directory.
  • Experience with other Novell or NetIQ products including Identity Manager, Access Manager or Zenworks is highly desired.
